10 things to succeed in Dental Assistant program

10 things to succeed in Dental Assistant program

  1. Have dreams and keep those dreams alive. Wanting to be successful is the first part of being successful. Keep your dreams big and if you put effort into achieving those dreams you are going to have a better chance at making those dreams a reality.

  2. Use all the resources available to you. Lab time is the most important time in the class because you get hands on experience with the tools you will be working with at a dentist’s office. You should also check out other resources like YouTube and articles about the field that may not be part of the curriculum to improve yourself.

  1. Attendance is so important in this class. If you can’t attend class, you will miss important information, notes, and practice. It’s also good practice for your career because if you have poor attendance at your career, you won’t be in it for very long.

  1. Managing your time, to be able to do all the requirements, like homework and lab work and all class activities. Proper time management will make your life much less stressful. Do your homework and class work in a timely manner so you aren’t stressed to finish it later.

  1. Be comfortable asking questions. No one has all the information, asking questions is the way to get to know more about the program. If you don’t know something, ask a question about it. It’s the only way you are going to learn. Ask questions about anything you don’t know.

  1. Note taking is very important when instructor demonstrate a procedure or any laboratory work because it’s making it easier to practice the procedure or hands on lab work after. The more you practice the more you’ll be comfortable with the work and the more you’ll enjoy your career.

  1. Focus on the subject that you learned for the day and continue practicing it. Keep detailed notes of all your lessons and get as much time to practice as you can because it will be invaluable to you later.

  1. Be engaged in the learning process. Don’t let anything to distract you from learning. In this program, you have a relatively short amount of time to learn a lot of things. Distractions will keep you from learning as much as you can. When you come to class, keep the distractions out until the class time is over.

  1. Don’t be afraid to be wrong. Everyone is going to make mistakes. It’s better to make them here than in the field. Ask for help if you need it, have your fellow students help you out if you aren’t getting it and they are. We’re a team in the class, we want everyone to do their best and get the most out of the program that they can.

  1. Have fun in the classroom. If you are not having fun in class than you will not get the most out of it, and your experience will not be as enjoyable. The program is made so not only is it informative, but it’s also enjoyable to come to class every day.
